Tarps are something I never really gave a second thought about… I mean, it’s just a sheet over you right? Absolutely not, this thing is a beast. Previously I used a cheap tarp off amazon that had a tie out point in each corner and then along the middle on 2 sides, nothing fancy. DD Hammocks tarps have 3 on each side plus 1 in each corner (so 5 a side) and then 3 along the middle of the tarp to tie out to a ridge line!
This tarp is strong and versatile, designed to keep you dry in brutal conditions. The 19 tie out points mean you can get really creative with how you set the tarp up from just standard cover over your tent to using the tarp as a tent itself. The camo pattern on it makes it near on undetectable in the woods which is just perfect. This would be great for wild and stealth camps.
I’ve only used it really for shelter over my tent / hammock so far so can’t comment on using it more than that but for what I have used it for, it’s been spot on. Each time I have used it, it has rained quite a bit and I have stayed bone dry under it. DD Hammocks have multiple sizes available but 3×3 is perfect for me. If I am camping with the kids or something I’ll just take 2.
I’d recommend getting different pegs for it as the pegs that come with it are not great at all and bent on the first night of using it for me. The guy lines that come with it are also not very long so keep that in mind when pitching as you may struggle with certain setups.
Overall, I am chuffed with this tarp and I cant wait to try some setups with it in the future!
