Sleeping Bags

OEX Fathom EV 400

Looking for that perfect sleeping bag is a daunting task. As winter is swiftly approaching I am looking at multiple sleeping bags and setups. Already having the OEX Fathom EV300 I wanted to test out the EV400 and see if there is much of a difference.

First time using this was in late autumn and inside a hot tent so I didn’t really test it’s limits, however, I have used both this and the EV300 with this same setup and I honestly see no difference between the two sleeping bags. They are both synthetic, pack down pretty small and do a good job of keeping you warm, but definitely not for 4 season camping unless you’re in a hot tent like I was.

The EV400 says it has an “anti-snag” zipper, but every time I use it, it snags on something so take that with a pinch of salt. It is rated to a -1°C comfort temperature but again, I wouldn’t use it down that cold.

I would confidently use this in any other conditions except winter and will probably take this on some mountain trips in the spring/summer as it does pack down fairly small.
